The
Province of Manitoba is located, as you can see from the map, in the center of Canada
directly north of the United States. Canada is ranked by the United Nations as
one of the best
places in the world to live, in large part due to her safe living conditions, modern
education system, and universal healthcare.
Manitoba enjoys four
different climatic seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. The summers are warm with
lots of sunshine and adequate rainfall which allows for great crops. Winter temperatures
are mostly below zero Celsius, but still sunny. Manitobans pride themselves in their
winter sports which involve hockey, curling, snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing among
others.
Manitobas education
system involves nursery school at age four, kindergarten at age 5, and grades one to
twelve beginning at age six. There are numerous universities in the province and country
to choose from after your children complete grade twelve.
Healthcare in the
province is provided by the Manitoba Health Service Commission with no insurance premium.
The major Hospitals are found in the cities of Brandon and Winnipeg with smaller
hospitals, doctors, and clinics found in smaller communities throughout the province.
The major industry here
is agriculture with the crops being wheat, barley, oats, rye, canola, sunflowers, lentils,
beans, peas, and others. There is a thriving livestock industry comprised mainly of
cattle, hogs, sheep, and poultry.
There is lots to do in
Manitoba recreationally. There is good fishing in our many lakes, camping facilities
throughout the province in our many parks, golf courses in almost every community,
numerous festivals to attend, and art galleries and museums to see. |
